Residential Violin & Viola Course

for students aged 8-18

11-16 AUGUST 2025
Sibford School, Sibford Ferris, Oxfordshire

Welcome to Violin Dynamites!

We are very excited to announce that we are running a parallel course for upper strings this year: Violin Dynamites. We would like to reassure viola players that they are very welcome too, but “Upper Strings Dynamites” didn’t have quite the ring we were looking for!

We aim to support teachers – and welcome engagement with them – by reinforcing and building on what they teach their students throughout the year. We are able to offer complementary and experienced teaching skills to a wide age range. We are an inclusive course for students aged 8-18 and Grades 3-8, welcoming both elite players who are aiming high, as well as those who love the cello but also have other passions and therefore less time to practise!

Places are going fast so please do book now to avoid disappointment.

Programme Leader - Emma Blanco

Emma Blanco, Head of Strings at Tonbridge School, is directing this course, which will run in a similar fashion to the Cello course, with technique groups, masterclasses and performance coaching. The courses will run independently from one another, but we will have the advantage of combining players from both courses for Quimantu sessions, ensembles and orchestra. It will definitely be the best of both worlds for all involved.

So please let your violinist and violist friends know, so they can also experience the mix of inspiring specialist instrumental teaching and ensemble work the cellists have been been enjoying for the last few years. As with the cello course, the standard is from Grade 3-8 and ages 8-18.
